MONTGOMERY, AL – The U.S. Army Montgomery Recruiting Battalion is proud to announce that Dixie Academy’s Eddie Martelli is Army Iron Man of the Year as the best two-way high school football player in Alabama.  Martelli received 5,792 votes with Crenshaw Christian’s Michael D’Arville receiving 4,205 votes.  Houston Academy’s Lawrence Johnson finished third in the voting with 3,297 votes.

 

Playing and excelling on both offense and defense, the Army Iron Man must demonstrate physical and emotional strength, as well as strength of character.  The Army Iron Man embodies the qualities of Army STRONG.  The Army Iron Man of the Year will receive a customized ring from Jostens, Inc.
