U.S. Army’s Pennsylvania Passing League
partners with the Pittsburgh Steelers
Top two PPL teams will compete at halftime of Steelers
preseason game at Heinz Field
HARRISBURG

– The
U.S. Army Harrisburg Recruiting Battalion is proud to announce
a partnership with the National Football League’s Pittsburgh
Steelers that will honor the best teams in the Pennsylvania
Passing League (PPL). The
top two teams in the Pennsylvania Passing League will play an
exhibition at halftime of the Pittsburgh Steelers preseason
opener, when the Steelers host the Detroit Lions on Saturday,
August 14 at Heinz Field.
“We’re
very excited about this opportunity with the Steelers,” U.S.
Army Harrisburg Recruiting Battalion Commanding Officer Lt.
Col. Stephen Lockridge said.
“This partnership will give the student-athletes
competing in the Pennsylvania Passing League the opportunity
to play at a NFL venue. It’s
a wonderful opportunity and we’re very excited about our
partnership with such a legendary franchise as the Pittsburgh
Steelers.”
The
Pittsburgh Steelers are the fifth-oldest franchise in the
National Football League, and have one of the most storied
histories in professional sports.
Founded and still operated by the Rooney Family, the
Steelers have set the bar as winners of an unprecedented 6
Super Bowl victories.
The
Steelers Youth Football programs are designed to promote the
great game of football to boys and girls ages 6-18 through
camps, clinics, television shows, fundraising opportunities
and more. In
addition, the Steelers provide coaching education to youth and
high school coaches to instill proper technique and safe play.
The
Pennsylvania Passing League is in its first season as a
seven-on-seven passing league for high school student athletes
throughout the
Keystone
State
.
